Even after so many decades in the communications industry, I still love a good storypenning them, telling them, and listening to them. Beyond my writing and editing work, I've also had the joy of getting away from the computer for guest speaking, teaching, and small group facilitation to support others' story work. Some highlights include:

  • Various seminars based on the universal concepts from Gone for Good: Lessons from a Midlife Exodus

  • Memoir work from "Writing the Moments That Matter" Zoom and in-person classes

  • Single parent workshops

  • "From Trauma to Resilience: Stories Scars Mercy Mission™" class supporting ICPC law enforcement chaplains

  • "Wisdom for the Journey" presentation to encourage first-time writers at NaNoWriMo events

Please look below for current offerings. And: If you'd like to discuss a specific class topic, want to dig into your own exodus journey, do story work with others in your churches and communities to learn and write together, or arrange for a guest speaker or small group leader to talk poignantly about life's losses and blessings, let's connect via email.

Therese C., attendee, "Going When (and Where) God Calls:
An Exodus Study"

Karen is a remarkable teacher and has a way of engaging with class members to draw out their participation. She's conversational and thought-provoking such that people feel comfortable quickly and want to contribute. This is my second class of hers--she's great at building community and helping us learn.
