Whether you turn
to the right
or to the left,
your ears will hear
a voice behind you, saying,
“This is the way;
walk in it.”

a life-changing path
miles wisdom purpose
Those of us at midlife have experienced our fair share of desert seasons—when our next steps have been tentative, and our directions confusing. Sometimes we're called to leave everything we've held dear (including predictability and "safety") to step out into something completely new. It is exhilarating and terrifying simultaneously and, in the end, our lives simply cannot go back to the way they were...and that can be a good thing. But we can't understand until we get here: Midlife is when our gifts and our purpose—plus our sharpened sense of time—intersect and accelerate.

My own midlife exodus led me onto a different path—a deeper way of living: something less rigid, with more questions than answers and more endings than beginnings. A life that's not even close to perfect, but something that's nourishing and good. Maybe you're there, too...wanting to find your new path and ready to give up on the illusion of perfection for something richer and more meaningful.

Shaping Our Stories, Appreciating Our Scars
Your unique life is precious, unrepeatable, full of redemption, and deeply important in this world. You just need to look at your story with fresh eyes.

What if you could:
-
come to a place of acceptance (and maybe even excitement),
-
consider your purpose and gifting,
-
trace the miles you've covered,
-
get back to the business you were born for, and
-
help others on the way—all under the grace of a good God?

When the meaning of our stories finally comes into focus, our unique purpose becomes clear, and we can finally stop wishing for someone else's life. We know what we were made for. And part of how this happens is through story work—studying and sharing, in community.
walk this way: SSMM™
Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.
As they pass through the Valley of Baka (the Valley of Tears), they make it a place of springs. —Psalm 84:5-6 NIV
In my writing seminars and studies, I guide participants to focus on my Stories Scars Mercy Mission (SSMM)™ matrix. It's an impactful process that can help you consider a different outcome to some of your most challenging life-chapters.

As we study our stories and scars and see Him throughout—especially in the most bruising of times—we understand better who God is, and our relationship with Him. And as we understand Him better, we see His mercy coursing through our lives to understand ourselves and others better. And then, by sharing our stories and stepping into our missions, we become more wise, compassionate, purposeful, and faith-filled...inviting others to do the same.
